  • 2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé

    Automotive Rhythms

Based on the concept 100EX -- designed to celebrate 100 years of Rolls-Royce's existence -- the stately Drophead Coupe can be had for $412,000 to 100 providential connoisseurs of British heritage this year. And as they say in England, the Drophead Coupe is "The Business." And after evaluating the massive convertible recently in San Diego, we can certainly attest to the statement.

    Automotive Rhythms

It's show time again at the 2007 New York International Auto Show. Let's see what was hot, and what was not. Audi showed the hot S5 coupe while Mercedes displayed the all-new C-Class and CLK63 AMG, with full DTM bodywork. Expect only a select few to own one as they'll be priced near $140,000. Continuing with the high-end theme, Maserati modeled their new GranTurismo Coupe, essentially a two-door Quattroporte. It's as close we thought to sex in the city as you can get, that is, until we saw the new Bentley Brooklands Coupe. This huge 2-door will retail for more than $335,000. The interior is about bespoke elegance and superiority.

  • 2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo: Catch A Fire! Does 160mph on Raceway!

    Automotive Rhythms

With a top speed of 171 miles per hour, the 2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo has the ability to leave runways on fire when it barrels by. For Porsche to go from sport cars to sport SUVs and still have success is quite impressive. This diversified lineup has increased sales and opened up new markets for the industry's smallest independent vehicle manufacturer. In fact, in 2004 (the first full year of sales for the Cayenne) it accounted for roughly half of Porsche's sales; with more than 150,000 having been sold worldwide. Sonically and technically inventive, the trio of all-new Porsche SUVs -- Cayenne, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo -- offer great performance, comfort and social recognition. A Cayenne Hybrid will be coming out before the end of this decade.
  • 2007 Audi S8 Test Drive: Live From Vegas!

    Automotive Rhythms

The roads are changing patterns as rapidly as a fearful chameleon. Swift right -- slight elevation -- swift left. Audi's legendary quattro all-wheel drive system allows the vehicle to grapple the surface as if it was on rails. Here comes an open straightaway. I hit the accelerator harder than Roger Federer hits tennis balls and in a few seconds my transport and I, the 2007 Audi S8, are moving at a torrid pace. Call me prejudiced, call me biased, call me whatever. Yet, when design persists over performance, and performance consists of a V10, quattro, 20" athletic rubber, and powerful brakes, then you have no choice but to be prejudiced towards Audi and their exemplary stable of "S" cars. Welcome to Las Vegas!
  • 6th Annual GM Tent: The Fashion, The Cars, The Stars

    Automotive Rhythms

The night was set just for the stars and the cars, not the ones in the sky but the more familiar ones that grace the TV screens of our homes. GM Ten, the highly anticipated annual fashion and car show, features superstar guests like Mary J. Blige, Mekhi Phifer, Tyrese, Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Hudson and Russell Simmons. Held in Hollywood at Paramount Studios Stage 16, GM rolled out the red carpet lined with their Green Technology Flex Fuel and Hybrid vehicles like the Chevy Sequel Fuel Cell CUV and Chevy Tahoe E85. The "hot boy" of the night was the Chevy Volt, an electric powered concept car with the ability to drive 40 miles on electricity alone!
