At this Sunday's VMA's, fans and celebs knew that with rap rivals, 50 cent and Fat Joe, under the same roof, drama was inevitable. Diddy, who hosted the show, performed a medley of orchestrated hits as a dedication to Biggie. Unbeknownst to him and the audience this performance would be the act that the drama would follow. Before introducing the Best Hip Hop Video, Fat Joe and Common smarted off saying "I ain't 50 Cent but b*tch it's your birthday". 50, after his performance, countered this dis by declaring that "Fat Joe is a p*ssy" and other bleeped out slurs. The origin of this rivalry began with The Game's supposed disloyalty to G-Unit. Despite the tension, the VMA's were a success and as for the feud, we will have to wait and see.

Other highlights of the show included performances by Mariah Carey, Coldplay, and Shakira. Missy Elliott's "Lose Control" racked in awards for Best Dance Video and Best Hip Hop Video. Alicia Keys also scored Best R&B video for her hit "Karma". Other winners included Green Day, Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West.
