Soul singer Toni Braxton fears she'll have to give up her dreams of having a big family because her heart might not be able to cope with a third pregnancy. Since giving birth to her second son in 2003, Braxton has been diagnosed with pericarditis - a potentially fatal heart condition - and now she has to take care not to over-stress herself. And she fears the condition will kill her if she and husband Keri Lewis choose to have another child.

Here's Toni Braxton to Web MD on having pericarditis: When I first found out that I had pericarditis, I thought it was like an older person's disease when they said it. The doctor educated me and said it was when the lining of your heart becomes inflamed and it contracts and it was rubbing pericarditis. I had no idea. Then they wanted to do an echo to see if there was fluid around my heart. There was a little fluid. It was really, really scary. I found out about a little short of six months after my second child. I had no idea of any of the symptoms. I just attributed it to having childhood asthma. I didn't know what was wrong, and it was really a shock when I found out.

I found out when I was doing the play Aida around two years ago. I'm on the stage and it's almost time for intermission, it's the big scene, the big singing number. My chest is so tight and I feel so faint, and I'm like, "Guys, there's something wrong with me." I'm trying to get up and they tell me that I kind of passed out a second. I don't remember this and they're like "OK, she can't finish the show!" I said, "Can I at least get to intermission?" They said "No! Take her to the hospital immediately." They were going to call the ambulance and I'm like, "No! I'll jump in a taxi." I went to the hospital and they did an EKG. You know something is wrong when someone says, "Your doctor will be with you shortly." The doctor came in and told me about pericarditis and what it was and demanded an echo immediately, and I had to stay overnight and be monitored and the whole thing and wear a monitor. It was very, very scary. Very, very scary.
