Country star Taylor Swift walked away with four trophies after last year's Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for Fearless. But - in case you didn't notice - Taylor's name was nowhere to be found among the 109 categories when the 53rd annual Grammy nominees were announced last week.
Considering the hit artist is known for being a top winner during award season, this news seems a bit strange at first. However, her name missing from the Grammy list this year isn't entirely stunning.
For starters, the eligibility period runs September 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. Swifts new album, Speak Now, didn't come out until late October, leaving that project ineligible for nominations.
In addition to releasing "Fearless" and "Mine" as singles, the country singer had a couple of titles on the Valentine's Day soundtrack, but these Grammy-potential projects still didn't find space on the award list.
While her fans might not approve of her name's omission, Taylor isn't likely to get too bummed out about it.
The "Love Story" hitmaker doesn't take any award nominations for granted, saying, "I celebrate every nomination that I get. And if I don’t get nominated for stuff, I’m still the same [person] I was before I didn’t get nominated. [I’m] still the same as I was before I won Album of the Year. If I hadn’t won Album of the Year, I’d still be the same, so awards are amazing and I love having shelves and shelves full of them. And last year was amazing, but I know that I have t o work really hard for every nomination that I get, and I have to work hard for every extra day that I get to do this. That’s just part of it. You can’t feel like you deserve everything if you’ve gotten it once.”
