My Vegas connections inform The Jewelry Man that Snoop was booked to host an event held by Molson Coors Brewing at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. But the hotel's parent company, Harrah's Entertainment, requested that Coors cancel the show due to pressure from local authorities and Nevada's Gaming Control Board.

Apparently, Sheriff Bill Young, of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, sent a letter to state gambling regulators asking that they discourage casinos from booking rap acts.

Meanwhile, Nevada's State Gaming Control Board states it is leery of "gangster rap" following the deaths of four local rappers last June, and the recent murder of a police officer by an aspiring Las Vegas rapper.

Here's the real bad news: Snoop would have pocketed about $150,000 for the gig.
