In "It seemed like a good idea at the time" news, the pissed off homey Richard Monroe II has filed a $20 million civil suit against rappers Snoop Dogg, Soopafly, Kurupt, The Game and Daz Dillinger for a vicious beating he suffered in front of thousands at the White River Amphitheatre last May 28 when he jumped on the stage to sing along with Snoop.

Oh really EbenGregory, I remember that.so what's the deal?

The Jewelry Man is informed that Monroe, a self-described "loyal fan" of Snoop Dogg, stepped on stage and was ruthlessly attacked by Snoop Dogg's bodyguards and other rappers, according to allegations in the suit, filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The suit says Monroe followed "an open invite" to come onstage. Snoop Dogg -- whose name is Calvin Broadus -- was performing his song "Gin and Juice." Monroe sauntered over and attempted to put his arms around the rapper in a friendly homeboy hug.

Here's Monroe's San Diego- based lawyers, Brian Watkins and Benjamin Pavone on what really happened that night: Monroe did nothing suggestive of hostility and nothing whatsoever to provoke the violent response that ensued. Bodyguards thereafter grabbed Monroe and attacked him by striking him with fists and kicks for approximately 35 seconds. His attackers poured cups of liquid over his body to humiliate him, Monroe's attorneys say. He was also robbed of his wallet, his rings, a cell phone and a pair of diamond earrings during the beating.

The Jewelry Man is informed that Monroe suffered a broken nose, bruised ribs, a busted lip and black eyes. His face swelled up like a pumpkin. He had to go to the hospital. The lawsuit, filed in L.A. where Snoop Dogg has a home and business interests, seeks punitive damages of $20 million and compensatory damages of $2 million.
