True story. Six weeks ago to the day, I was in Coconut Grove enjoying a funnel cake topped with cherries. WET WET Girl Krysti Hill leans over and says to me, "Damn, is that ice in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" We laughed. I stop laughing and turn serious. I tell her coldly, "Wearing jewelry's like starting karate, you don't stop." The Jewelry Man.giving you that real on a Thursday night.
In "Guess who's still cashing checks" news, the RZA, my third cousin on my father's side, recently inked a deal with Spike TV to score an animated martial arts series.
Hmm.you smell that EbenGregory? I think I smell.
Yes.
The Jewelry Man is informed that the Wu-Tang homey will score the soundtrack for 'Afro Samurai' that stars Samuel L. Jackson as a Black samurai trying to hand out wet t-shirts to the folks that helped his father take a "dirt nap." (Somebody just thought "huh?")
Here's the RZA in a statement on getting a check for scoring a karate movie: 'Afro Samurai' offers me the opportunity to mix the innovational world of Hip-Hop with the visual imagination of Japanese animation. The vibe of 'Afro Samurai' is so soulful and cool, that when I was asked to compose the series my creative juices immediately reacted. I felt it was something meant for me to do; in many ways Afro and myself share the same spirit.
That's nice.like watching David Blaine trapped in a '07 Caddy truck with 237 sick chickens. Let's try the RZA out again.
Here's more RZA hamming it up in a statement on getting a check for scoring a karate movie: As a fan of martial art and old Japanese Samurai movies, I have always wanted to be a part of such creativity and to have my own spice added is even better.
And speaking of spicing something up.
Here's some jewelry being dropped by EbenGregory on the RZA scoring an animated martial arts series: The more things you do, the more you can do.
And speaking of trying to do it.snap your fingers to the drum of my beat: MySpace.com/ebengregory.
