My main man Pimp C is on his way home after five years in the clink. Word on the street is that he's been granted parole and could be released before Christmas. The Port Arthur, Texas bred rapper was sentenced to prison for 8 years in 2001 for parole violations on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. He was not scheduled to be eligible for parole until late 2005.
This past Saturday (Dec. 3), Bun B. announced the news on South Carolina's WHXT Hot 103.9 that Pimp C. had been approved for parole and would be released soon.
Here's Bun B on Pimp C's release: Words coming back that he's been approved for parole and should be home in the next 60 days. It's definitely a blessing, it's a beautiful thing. I hope that everybody will be able to burn the Free Pimp C. shirts real soon and throwing those caps away. Then we can start rocking the Welcome Back Pimp C.
If you've been living under a rock for the last decade, Pimp C has thrilled Dirty South rap fans for more than a decade, selling well over 1 million records from five major-label Underground Kingz (UGK) releases.
Pimp-C and Bun B. formed UGK in the late 80s, releasing several major label albums with Jive, including Too Hard to Swallow, Ridin' Dirty, and Dirty Money.
Pimp C has also produced records for Master P, C-Murder, 3-6 Mafia, David Banner's group Crooked Letters and has made cameo appearances on tracks by Jay-Z, David Banner, Young Jeezy and others.
And you thought I was gonna make a few slick comments. Naw, C's my man for real.
