As previously reported, Nas decided to change the controversial title of his upcoming album. He originally settled on "Nigger" but changed his mind for various reasons including concerns that main stream retailers would not carry it. Although the name has changed, the Queens Bridge MC's point of view has not when it came to shooting the video for the first single "Be A Nigger Too."
According to a blog posted by Hot 97's Miss Info, Mr. Jones is taking a "politically incorrect, unsubtle approach" to the production of the video. Filmed in Los Angeles and New York and directed by Rick Cordero, the video is expected to premiere at a private screening in New York.
"Rik Cordero and Nas shot the video last week in LA (and some parts here in NY) and the concept will be very familiar to movie buffs," said Miss Info. "I can't give away any more, but I'll say that there will be some celebrity cameos. And not the usual "Hey, these are random rappers that I don't know that well but who will show up when I shoot a video and pretend to party with me in this rented space with the rest of my casted modeltypes' cameos."
The words "Still You Want To Be A Nigger Too?" grace the top of the newly released promotional poster for the video. The black and white poster shows a person's bound feet seemingly swinging in the air with what appears to be a forest in the background. "There will be more preview posters [today], but this one is especially striking, and horrifying, and powerful," Miss Info said.
The official new name of the album has yet to be announced. Earlier reports said that the album would simply be called "Untitled." No official release date has been announced. The website for the highly controversial and anticipated album has yet to be fully established.
