In "I thought he was gonna let it ride" news the Stand Up homies Ludacris and Kanye West have been accused of stealing their 2003 hit "Stand Up" from a little known rap group's demo.

The Jewelry Man is informed that It's Our Family (I.O.F), a New Jersey-based rap quartet, claim Ludacris and West lifted snippets from their 2001 demo "Straight Like That," which they say was received by Ludacris' camp years earlier.

At the core of the copyright infringement trial are issues with the words "like that," repeated more than 80 times in each song - one using the phrase "straight like that" and the other "just like that."

Here's Kanye West testifying in court on using the phrase "straight like that" in the song "Stand Up": It's not unusual that "Stand Up" and "Straight Like That" by the East Orange, N.J., group I.O.F. would both repeatedly use the words "like that." There's a lot of rap songs that say, 'like that,' 'yo, what's up?' or 'throw your hands high.' Whatever people say in the 'hood, it ends up on records. That's what hip-hop does.

Here's Ludacris testifying in court on using the phrase "straight like that" in the song "Stand Up": I never heard the expression "straight like that" or the song by that title until I was sued. I used "like that" in a 1999 song. I never heard anyone use the term.
