Lil Wayne has been added to the cast of director Tim Story's upcoming basketball drama "The Patriots." The rapper will star alongside Bow Wow and Forest Whitaker, who stars as a high school basketball coach whose team consisted of players hailing from five different schools that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
The 25-year-old rapper has been set to portray an Al Collins High School's student by the name of Lamont who is doubtful of what the new basketball team could achieve. The film's production began last week and the cast also includes Isaiah Washington, Taraji P. Henson, Jackie Long and J.B. Smoove.
Wanye has tried his luck in the movie industry before. He has appeared in the 2000 crime action film "Baller Blockin" as well as in 2007 comedy film "Who's Your Caddy?".
In related news, Lil Wayne will drop his highly anticipated album "Tha Carter III" on June 10. The album will feature appearances from Hurricane Chris, Juelz Santana, Corey Gunz and Fabolous, among others.
