• In "How can I make some money from jail" news, my ex-ladyfriend Lil Kim has been tapped by BET as the next Hip Hop star to get her own reality show. First there was the "Ultimate Hustler," and now there's "Lil Kim: The Countdown to Lockdown."

I know what you're thinking, "Lil Kim and BET can't be serious," but they are: seriously. Just this week BET executives defended the new reality series of Kim going to prison saying the show didn't glorify her situation. After promoting "Lil' Kim: The Countdown to Lockdown" as presenting the real Kimberly Jones - "her words, her life, her way" - the network officials backpedaled a bit when asked whether promoting her as going to jail "mouth shut and head held high" was tacitly approving her silence and perjury regarding the shootout involving her friends and some rivals.

Here's BET executives on the Lil Kim reality show: It's a very serious look at her life and her choices, and the consequences of those choices. The program will not take either the subject or the sentence - Lil' Kim was sentenced to a year and a day - lightly. It's an absurd and tragic and Fellini-esque situation.

Tracey Edmonds, the show's producer, said yesterday it was she who approached Lil' Kim about the idea for a BET reality series - first when the shooting broke in the news, and again when her verdict came due. The rap star eventually agreed, Edmonds said, to take the opportunity to reveal herself, and not just in skimpy costumes, in the weeks before she left for jail.

Viewers will see Lil' Kim not only recording, and filming a music video, but being with her mother and putting her affairs in order as her sentence looms. "You'll get to meet Kimberly Jones as a person, and not just as a public icon," Edmonds said. "She's a very family-minded person. She has a lot of integrity, and a lot of reasons why she made a false statement." Oh really Tracey Edmonds?

Personally, watching a show about Lil Kim going to jail is not that appealing to me. I'd rather see a show about Lil Kim and all the plastic surgeries she's had. But that's just wishful thinking.

Here's some jewelry being dropped by EbenGregory on Lil Kim's new reality show about her going to jail: Watch out for the woman whose stomach doesn't move when she laughs. She's probably looking for greenbacks.

BTW, "Lil' Kim: Countdown to Lockdown" premieres March 9 on BET.
