True story. The other day me and my man Jimmy were hanging out on Rodeo Drive at the shops in Anderton Court. I'm doing me.you know.enjoying a Starbucks Darjeeling tea when we see two midget security guards chasing a one legged man out of the Cartier store.
Jimmy says to me, "It's funny, those same store detective said they've seen a lot of people who were so confused that they'd stolen things, but never one so confused they'd paid twice." I laughed and replied, "You can't steal second base and keep one foot on first." The Jewelry Man.telling you not to bother locking the stable door after the horse has been stolen.
In "That was a long intro just to talk about Lil Kim being accused of stealing songs" news, the I just got out of jail homey Lil Kim has been accused of song stealing.
Oh really EbenGregory.litigation follows her around like a black cloud huh man?
Yes.
The Jewelry Man is informed that Jamaican reggae artist Tanya Stephens claims Kim stole lyrics from her 1997 song "Mi and Mi God" and used them on the song "Durty", which is featured on Kim's 2005 album, The Naked Truth. Oh and here's a surprise: Stephens is seeking to gain ownership of "Durty" and receive all past and future royalties.
And now.the drama.
Here's Kim's entertainment attorney L. Londell McMillan in a statement to EbenGregory on what's really going on: The lawsuit against Atlantic Records and Lil Kim is the result of Royalty Networks Inc's failed attempts to extract unreasonable sums and percentages of Lil Kim's new song for an interpolated use of a song which happens all the time in hip-hop.
And now.how to deal with drama as told by Mr. McMillan.
Here's Kim's entertainment attorney L. Londell McMillan in a statement to EbenGregory on how he deals with the drama: There are no damages to Tanya Stephens, they never objected until after their efforts failed, and Kim was and remains willing to be fair. This matter should have been resolved but it appears to be another money and media play at Lil Kim's expense. This issue was no secret. Kim was advised licenses were obtained by those who handle clearances at the time. We shall defend this action.
That's nice.like using 406 words to tell Lil Kim's story and then deciding not to give you closure.
