As previously reported, Brooklyn born rapper Foxy Brown, has been quite vocal in voicing her negative opinions about her newly released " Brooklyn 's Don Diva." Referring to the album as, "carelessly orchestrated," Brown also said, "I heard this CD in its entirety for the first time just days ago and was devastated." Although recorded prior to her incarceration, the album was assembled without her final approval while she was serving her time in the clink. Fox's former manager and CEO of Black Hand Entertainment, Chaz "Slim" Williams, recently gave it right back to the "Black Rose" on Eminem's Shade 45 Sirius radio station.
Williams told hosts Angela Yee and Leah Rose, "It's really my fault. I picked the tracks, I wrote the record, and I recorded it so you can blame me. I was in the booth." The album was released while Fox was under his management. He went on to say that the only time he heard the album's tracks during the production phase and that he was never able to give it a final listen after its completion. "To tell you the truth, I didn't listen to the album after it was [recorded]. I don't even have it." Williams then issued a stern warning to Fox saying, "I just want you to know that in times of peace you prepare for war, and you better bet I'm prepared, so I would advise as a cautionary measure, a caveat, don't even do it."
Williams was featured as "America's Most Prolific Bank Robber" in a 2007 episode of BET's "American Gangster." In the 1970's he robbed banks in several states, even continuing to do so after he was in a prison work release program. Convicted and sentenced to 95 years, Williams fought with the legal system until his sentence was reduced to 15 years. He served his time and returned to the streets and developed a record label and recording studio. He also organizes an outreach prison program to share his story with current inmates. He was also 50 Cent's first manager.
"Brooklyn's Don Diva" was released last Tuesday, May 13th. It included tracks featuring, Grafh, AZ, Lady Saw and Lil'Mo. Brown plans on re-releasing the album with five new tracks and videos. She is also planning on doing a full publicity and promotion blitz. The official re-release date has yet to be announced.
