Foxy Brown is less than pleased with her newly released album, "Brooklyn's Don Diva." In a statement released to Hot 97's Miss Info, the "Chyna Doll" said the album was released with out her final approval. She said that the album was supposed to be a mixtape and server as a precursor to the much-delayed album "Black Roses."
"Unfortunately, during my incarceration, this CD was compiled without my approval. I heard this CD in its entirety, for the first time, just says ago and was devastated," Brown said in her statement. Officially released on Tuesday, May 13th, Brown went on to say that she heard the final cut only a few days prior to its release.
Eager to "make it up" to her fans, Brown met with Bob Frank, the president of Koch Records and will be re-releasing the album next month with 5 new tracks and videos. She will follow up the re-release with a marketing and publicity campaign.
A testament to her "rehabilitation" after being sentenced to 76 days in a Rikers Island Correctional facility, Brown said that the old her would have resorted to legal action to stop the release of the album which she described as "carelessly orchestrated." "In another phase of my life and career, I would have dealt with this situation with litigation, but for the benefit of my fans and in the wake of the profound spiritual cleansing I recently underwent in prison, I made the decision to settle our creative differences amicably. My fans have waited seven years for an in-store release and deserve my very best," explained the rapper.
Brown subsequently promised to "deliver the biggest street album in female rap history." "Brooklyn's Don Diva" was recorded before Browns comparatively short stint in jail. It was originally scheduled to be released in November of 2007. Originally intended to be a follow up to 2001's "Broken Silence," Brown has been working on "Black Roses" since 2004. The official re-release date for "Brooklyn's Don Diva" has yet to be announced.
