The former Chopper City Boys group member VL Mike was shot and killed on Sunday (April 20) in New Orleans.

According to the local paper The Time-Picayune, VL Mike was shot when he was exiting his vehicle between Paris Avenue and Overton Drive at around 1 p.m., when an unknown and still unidentified person approached him and opened fire.

VL Mike, born Michael Allen, 32, was rushed to University Hospital where he died shortly after.

Due to police reports, the gunman escaped on foot. No release information on a suspect or a motive in the slaying was released.

Fans visited the rapper's MySpace page to leave some comments like "I can't belive it. We was just on the phone talking about me and my girl coming back to Atlanta to visit you. I am going to miss you. You where so loved by many and will be missed by many."

VL Mike was featured on the Chopper City Boyz' debut album "We Got This" but left the group last year after falling out with leader B.G.
