The West Coast has united. The West is back! Atleast that's what we've been thinking after Snoop Dogg's peace conference and the reuniting of the Dogg Pound. Throw an Ice Cube album in and the West is guarantied success... right? Not really.

I have had the opportunity to check out albums from Ice Cube, Dogg Pound and Kurupt and one word comes to mind: Disappointment.

I didn't review the Cube album yet, but Dogg Pound was given a 3,5 rating and Kurupt a generous 3 rating out of 5. That's not what I expected at all.

Snoop reuniting the Dogg Pound made me realize a few things: Kurupt fell off. Snoop fell off. Daz, whom used to be the weak link, is now the best Dogg Pound member. This might not be surprising to some of ya'll, but I expected the trio to step up for this anticipated release. An other surprise on Cali Iz Active is that P Diddy's guesting on it. A slap in the face to alot of West Coast heads.

Ice Cube is one of my all time favourite rapper. He's a living legend... and he's still got it. However, Ice Cube need banging beats instead of slow jams to rap over. With two bangers on the CD (the 2 singles), it came out a disappointment.

So what do us West Coast fans have to look forward to? Well for one The Game seems to be stepping up. I checked out his latest mixtape and he seems to have stepped up lyrics wise wich was needed. Let's hope Aftermath provides him with banging beats as they did on his debut. He doesn't need 50 anyway.

An other thing the West Coast has to look forward to is the return of Death Row. I know, it's been said a billion times the past 10 years, but this time it seems to actually happen. I spoke to new Death Row rapper Warlord yesterday and things looked real good. A Petey Pablo album dropping at the end of the year might be realistic and if he opens the door for Death Row, Suge's not late to bring out some raw West Coast tallent to the table. Not to mention he's not backed up by Lakey on Death Row East who is releasing an album with Cormega.

So yeah, there are things to look forward to. Let's just hope the future is less disappointing than Tha Dogg Pound.
