Soul and disco singer Loleatta Holloway has passed away following a brief illness. She was 64 years old.
Holloway's death was confirmed by her manager, Ron Richardson, who said the singer slipped into a coma late Sunday before succumbing to heart failure Monday evening.
Holloway recorded several disco singles, including "Hit and Run" and "Runaway," but she is best known for the hit "Love Sensation."
Her vocals were sampled by Black Box for the 1989 hit "Ride on Time" as well as by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch for the song "Good Vibrations" in 1991.
The singer was born in Chicago in 1946 and began singing gospel with the Holloway Community Singers and later with The Caravans. Her solo career began in the 1970s.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced, but her family is planning to hold a public memorial.
