I'm still circling the block before I'm parking. The Jewelry Man.never letting the drama slide.
In "A lot of rich people play the smoke and mirrors game" news, my uncle Sean John Combs was crowned Hip-Hop's highest earned in 2005 by raking in $24.3 million.
Huh? That's it? I thought Diddy was getting way more than that, what's the deal EbenGregory?
A case of smoke and mirrors, I guess. Let me draw the word picture.
Now according to Rolling Stone, Diddy made the list largely because of the cash he took in from selling his Bad Boy Records to Warner Music Group for $29 million, and his earnings from Sean John clothing. Diddy came in at #15.
It's tricky because Rolling Stone also shed some light on a few of my other favorites including 50 Cent who despite the lackluster performance of his movie, Get Rich or Die Tryin', 50 Cent saw Buffett-like diversity in his earnings: He took in at least $10 million from entrepreneurial ventures, including his G Unit clothing line, Reebok sneaker deal and a video-game deal, plus ticket sales from his tour with Eminem and his salary for his movie debut. 50 came in at #19.
Of course the Jigga Man was on the list. Let Rolling Stones tell it, Jay-Z earned as much as $3 million for serving as president of Island Def Jam, sources say, while also taking a cut from the company's $10 million buyout of Roc-A-Fella Records, and profits from his $350 million Rocawear clothing line.
Eminem and Dr. Dre made the list at on the list with earnings of $17.8 million and $16.9 million, respectively, also shared into 50's record profits thanks to interlocking label deals.
I've grown weary of such talk so.
Here's some blue ice jewelry being dropped by EbenGregory on Diddy being named as Hip-Hop's top earner: Sometimes your handshake doesn't match your money.
