    Keyshia Cole
When in recent years R&B has focused on asses, thongs, and jeans, 21 year old Keyshia Cole has come to rescue R&B and restore it to what is once was, music about relationships, love, emotions, and reconciliation. On her album "The Way it Is"
her strong, sultry voice powerfully glides effortlessly up and down the scales with grace. This artist has already is made impressions on music artists like John Legend and Kanye West who wrote and produced the track "I Should have Cheated", a song about a woman who is constantly accused of cheating by her boyfriend. My favorite "Love"
a song about a woman who loves a man who keeps the wrong kind of company, is a slow jam of that plays like the old-school slow jams of young R&B greats like Monica and Brandy.I have been long-awaiting to hear music of this soulful quality for what seems like ages. "The Way It is" is the way it should be.
Cole releases her debut single "I Changed My Mind" on April 3rd through A&M records
and she'll start her tour in Fort Lauderdale at the end of March and tour on through April.

  • Right now Chris Brown is the biggest teen idol in music since Justin Timberlake. This 16 year-old Virginia native R&B artist has who recently has had huge success with hits such as "Run It" and "Yo" (Excuse Me Miss) off of his debut album "Young Love" is making me want to run away from the radio. Brown is bringing back the puppy love genre with a voice like a three year-old with the flu crying because he can't find his nasal spray. When I hear his voice I feel like I might suffocate under the pop-infested beats now being passed off by some as R&B. I truly believe that if this kind of music is going to be called R&B from now on, R&B has truly taken a turn for the worst. Recent comparisons of Chris Brown to Usher( when none can be made) have made me believe that if this kind of music is now being called R&B, I think I'd find listening to my one month-old cousin crying while playing my uncle's trumpet would be much more enjoyable than listening to any of Brown's music. How music like this is topping the charts is beyond my G-spot's comprehension. When Brown runs down his credentials to an older woman in his song "Gimmie That" I hope the woman he serenades checks his C.D. before getting arrested for soliciting to a music artist who makes music that should be illegal to sell.
