In more "I wish you'd leave me alone" news, my good friend Beanie Sigel was released from jail after posting more than $27,000 in back child support and $2,000 in fines.
Unfortunately the Broad Street Bully had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to appear at a child support hearing in Family Court this Wednesday. It only got worse once he was called to take the stand to testify about his financial status. It's funny how everybody (Beanie, Diddy, and Jeezy) dummies up when they have to bear witness to that "show" money they sitting on. All of the sudden it's, "Where's the money somebody?" This is Beanie:
Prosecutor: Did you make any money off the State Property clothing line?
Beans: Huh? Plus, I only own a 20 percent stake in the clothing line, and my deal calls for me to receive just one-fifth of 10 percent of the profits.
Prosecutor: Did you make any money off the State Property Films I and II?
Beans: I can't recall. Here's the truth, I only received SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) wages, which amounted to a $100 every couple of weeks. Ha!
Prosecutor: Did you make any money off the music you've recorded for Roc-A-Fella records the last two years?
Beans: What? Okay, okay. I only made about $100,000 off my music in 2005.
Prosecutor: Have you made any money off all that real estate you own?
Beans: Who you guys been talking too, I just got out of jail?
This foolishness went on for most of his testimony until Judge Leonard A. Ivanoski had enough of the games and sentenced him to two concurrent six-month prison terms. Beans attempted to Sigel attempted to make a good faith payment of $8,000 to avoid being jailed, but the short change was rejected.
The Judge noted that he would be set free if he coughed up the cash: the amount owed, plus court fines. And just like that, $29,000 magically posted to Beans child support account and Beans was released within the hour. Wanna read the whole story, I just wrote about it here.
