Yallwire got the chance to hang out at the Average Joe's Entertainment showcase at The Wildhorse Saloon during this year's Country Radio Seminar where we were able to chat with some great country rockers.

Host Stephanie Langston chats with Colt Ford about his new album, Every Chance I Get, which is full of special guests and is a project the country star feels is the best thing he's done to date. Referring to his most recent single, "Country Thang," Colt says that "it's a song that just kind of says pretty emphatically the way I believe - it's either in your blood or it ain't."

The big surprise of the evening, Average Joe's made the announcement that Montgomery Gentry has been added to the label's roster. Excited about hitting the studio and making more great hits, the guys say "the great thing about Average Joe's is that we're able to get back with a little bit more creative freedom with our style of stuff and the music that we really like to perform live and we do so well. We'll be able to take that part of the show back into the studio and record that kind of stuff."

Another exciting surprise of the night, Colt Ford brought out hip hop legend Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels (from Run DMC) to perform with him during the show where they rocked out to "Walk This Way." A seemingly unlikely artist to collaborate with country folk, Colt insists that Darryl is a total redneck at heart. "Darryl wears Wranglers, Harley Davidson boots, drives an F250, has a leather jacket - that's really who he is and he loves all kinds of music and always has. Those guys were putting rock guitar in rap records in 1983-84!"

Ford emphasizes his respect for the hip hop icon and notes his influence by saying that Darryl is "sombody that moved the musical landscape in this country and not many artists - and there has been a lot of successful artists - but not many who have done that."

Sharing his mutual likeness for the country star, Darryl claims that stereotypes of specific musical genres aren't important because "it's kind of like a different expression of the same feeling." He goes on to say that when it comes to country music musicians, the real hip hoppers and the rockers, "we all go through the same things in life. We have a lot in common that really allowss us to be able to work together and make music together."
