"Where My Heart Is" featuring Maxi Jazz is out on May 23rd, and is the first single to be lifted from Benji Boko's debut album, Beats, Treats And All Things Unique, set for release in June.
Benji has a super cool project planned to reflect the collaborative nature of the track through a truly original music video, and he's looking for talented artists/graffiti artists/illustrators/animators to be involved in the making of the it!
Here's the plan:
Phase 1 of the video - featuring manipulated footage of Maxi Jazz slowly revolving against a white background - has been shot, edited and launched on the Tru Thoughts YouTube channel.
This 'white background' is where the need for some talented artists come in. Benji is seeking a handful of people to submit unique designs and animations - inspired by the track - to occupy this space around Maxi Jazz.
Phase 1 of the video is available for download now, so all of you brilliant creators out there - play around with it, get inspired and work up some great ideas to submit for the second 'phase' of the video!
Phase 2: filming the artists.
On the day of filming, the Phase 1 footage will be slowed down to stretch over a period of five hours and projected onto a large outdoor screen/canvas. While the individual frames of the video play out, the artists will recreate their designs on the canvas.
This footage will then be frame cut (sped up) to 3 1/2 minutes so that the original 'Phase 1' footage of Maxi Jazz will be moving at normal speed, whilst the artists create the backdrop at superhuman speed around him.
This project is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to collaborate with Benji Boko and Maxi Jazz and - as the video will be launched on the Tru Thoughts YouTube channel and heavily promoted across many media platforms - a great way to gain exposure for your work and passion. For all artists involved, it is certain to be a fantastically rewarding experience.
Artists wishing to be involved with this seriously awesome project need to be available for a day's filming in June (date TBA) in Brighton or London, when they will need to be able to create their designs on a big screen/canvas within a five-hour time frame.
Artists' submissions must be in by the single release date of May 23rd, and the artists selected for the final video will be notified in late May. You can submit designs and any questions to wheremyheartis@me.com.
