Alicia Keys is getting political in her new interview with Blender magazine.
She has some strong views and opinions which we haven't necessarily heard from her before. She tells Blender that she's been reading several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck. The pendant is "to symbolize strength, power and killing "em dead".
Keys discusses several of her conspiracy theories. "Gangsta Rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. Gangsta Rap didn't exist."
Another theory of Ms. Keys is that the beef between Tupac and Biggie was instigated "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."
She wants to write more political songs and feels that if black leaders like the late Black Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself."
We are sure this won't be the last we hear from Alicia Keys. It seems that she's coming into herself; she has a voice and will be expressing it. Stay tuned!
