The exact origin of diamonds is still something of a mystery, even to scientists. Though the diamond is the hardest of all of The Jewelry Man's gemstones, it is the simplest in composition. It is pure carbon, not unlike graphite in a lead pencil, but carbon that has been crystallized.

Somehow many millions of years ago diamonds crystallized under immense heat and pressure, deep in the earth's crust. Then the force of ancient volcanic eruptions drove the diamond bearing molten rock up through pipe like channels towards the earth's surface to The Jewelry Man's doorstep.

In "I'm just trying to stay relevant" news, A.J. Calloway, former co-host of BET's popular "106 & Park" show, recently blasted what he calls the destructive messages of many of the show's most popular music videos.

And speaking of teaching, A.J. will be teaching a graduate seminar in public history at Howard University that "will provide a theoretical foundation" for hip-hop. While Calloway will teach the class online, he will periodically come to campus to speak to students.
