Blastro is excited to announce the nominees for its annual Music Video Awards! We have seen hundreds of music videos from up-and-coming artists, music veterans and all artists in between, and we thought we would show some light on a few videos that really stood out this year. 

Blastro programmers have chosen videos that have been particularly successful with Blastro's audience and have placed them in four categories : Video Artist of the Year, Sexy Video of the Year, Best New Artist of the Year and Innovation Award. Winners will be selected by music fans. Voting for music fans will run from December 21, 2012 to December 28, 2012 through our Facebook and Twitter RT. The winners will be announced on January 3, 2013 .

The Innovation Award is awarded to the music video that we find the most unique, engaging, and mind blowing. As music programmers we've watched so many music videos through out the year. The music videos that just make you wanna say "Wow" are the ones that stick with us and are theones that we just want the whole world to know about. So without further ado, the nominees for Innovation Award are:

PSY "Gangnam Style"

PSY has made history as the first South Korean artist to break into both the European and American music market through "Gangnam Style". The iconic "horse dance" has been covered million of times and "Gangnam Style" now stand as Youtube's Most Watched Video Of All Time. The reason behind his amazing success that led his song to be played all over the world even though it's in Korean is the uniqueness and the symbolism behind the music video matched with simple and pure comedianism.

Gotye ft. Kimbra "Somebody That I Used To Know"

Not only was the song "Somebody That I Used to Know" one of the most popular songs ever played internationally for the year 2012 according to Billboard Magazine. The music video itself stood out where both Gotye and Kimbra stood naked as they were painted to melt into the background. Their painting symbolises their combined relationship.

G-Dragon "CRAYON"

G-Dragon is known to be part of mega hit South Korean group, BIG BANG, but he is also known as a successful solo artist. This year G-dragon came back with his mini album "One of a Kind" featuring the hit "CRAYON". G-Dragon is known for unique music videos and concepts with his singles that stick out among the throng of cutesy or sexy concepts in k-pop. This year he did not dissapoint with "CRAYON" where he dressed up as multiple known icons from Pinocchio to Frankenstein and even cross-dressed, shocking many fans.

Justin Bieber ft Big Sean "As Long As You Love Me"

Justin Bieber is out in the night trying to find out where is true love located in "As Long As You Love Me". Justin Bieber never disappoints when he comes with a new single and each time the song will become a huge hit. "As Long As You Love Me" continues his legacy topping the Billboard Charts and one of the most played songs of 2012.

Sexy video of the year should be a playful topic. So without further ado, here are the nominees:

Kelly Rowland "ICE"

Kelly Rowland once again gets nominated into this category with "ICE". She continues to seduce us with her dance and crystal studed lips.

Havana Brown ft. Pitbull "We Run The Night"

Havana Brown makes her breakthrough performance with "We Run The Night' ft Pitbull. The song brings and enticing and exciting beat to the dance floor just as she entices us to dance along in her music video.

Ga-In "Bloom"

K-pop artist Ga-In from the girl group, Brown Eyed Girls, shows a feminine yet undeniably sexy image in "Bloom". The music video stars Ga-In portraying a girl who became a real woman through love even showing her in an intimate scene as she "blooms" into a woman. Although the music video may seem innocent along the song however the lyrics and the certain parts of the music video show the sexy image of Ga-In.

The Best New Artist video nominees are artists who can spread themselves to audiences around the world. So without further ado, here are the nominees:

Ailee "I Will Show You"

Korean-American solo artist Ailee first garnered attention with her cover of Beyonce's "Halo" and her first two singles, "Heaven" and "I Will Show You", has topped the charts and winning awards in South Korea.  She originally got into singing by creating a YouTube channel called "aileemusic" when her friends told her she was a good singer. She moved to South Korea to pursue her career and be closer to her roots in 2010.

 Kayla Brianna "If You Love Me"

 Kayla Brianna, R&B darling and the industry's newest "girl next door" describes her music as "transitional music"  that speaks to young girls around the world who are in “transition.” Endorsed by music, entertainment, and sports heavyweights including George Lopez, Chris Rock, Ice Cube, and Kobe Bryant, Kayla B. is more than just a manufactured concept. 

 

 Royalty ft. Carlito "Brown Eyed Girl"

Born as a Peasant / Live as a King / Die as a God Royalty - "A person of a higher ranking, A person of Class & privilege" The definition explains it all when it comse to Royalty, and his accomplishments. He started off in the Lower-Middle Class of San Jose and built his fan base from the ground up on Myspace and garnered attention with hits like "Miss California Girl" and "Brown Eyed Girl".
