Well as we can see there is more than one XL around this large world. Of course it makes perfect sense as the name itself is quite common in everyday life. However the impact of the artists really settles any question about who is the "real" XL. XL from Boston MA a member of the Legendary Boston Hip Hop group and crew the Kreators has been mc'n since 1988. His group was part of a a very special reassurgance in Boston hip hop and are very well known and respected world wide. The group Kreators video "Foreign Lands" was chosen from over 5000 submissions to MTV and finished 2nd place on the segment "under the radar, Flying Indie" hosted by Matt Pinfield. The video became a staple on MTV 2. Subsequently the Kreators went on to sell over 250,000 records independantly in only a 2 year span. The group disbanded somewhere around 02-03 and the artists began pursuing solo careers. Now XL holds a very special place in many Boston MC's hearts as he has worked with many up and coming artists helping to bridge the gap for newcomers to the Boston audience. He has released a large collection of music since 2005 including 3 singles which have all been in the top 3 most added and played nation wide and in select markets in Europe. XL's video's have a combined total 140,000 plays. XL is self funded and independant and continues to work with such artists as DJ.Premier, MOP, Big Shug, Sean Price, Shabamm Sadiq, 7L and Esoteric, Edo G and many more. Also it is my understanding that XL has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder and is very sick. Ive heard that the Boston hip hop community rallied together to throw a benefit for him as he is in a really bad way. So in closing I am sure that thier are many other groups called "XL" equally deserving of some recognition but from what I can read none have had the same impact to thier genre as XL has had on his.
