The main goal of Metazon is to re-create the magic, the atmosphere and the emotions that were established by the founders of Hip Hop, even before Lovebug Starski used this term for the first time to design the culture. Before the arrival of the samplers and the breaks, that Afrika Bammbatta describes as the ?call of the drums? that gathers the people attracted by the chants of the ancient tribal spirits, the firsts notes of this music came mainly from the Funk (Allaint Toussaint, Earl Palmer), the Jazz (Weather Report,Herbie Hancock), the Latin( Hector Lavoe, Los Jaivas) and the Afro (Fela Kuti, Lafayette Afro Rock Band) and is played by live musicians. In order to create the same musical warmth, Metazon fusions all of these styles and arms themselves with expert musicians all masters in their own field of music. The Band consists of ?el Cotola? and ?Beyondah?, two experienced mc's, masters of ceremony, engaged socially and consciously to improve their community. They manipulate words, metaphors and avant-garde «flows» that give light to a South-American and Caribbean heritage. Marcos at the Bass, which his biggest influences are provided by the funk fusion styles, is a young prodigy that represented the Canada at the International Festival in France, Naman is in command with a Hammond plugged into a 1955 Wurlitzer and he plunges us into a vintage world of Jazz. And then you have Claude, who comes from the Gospel and Soul universe, who brings forth a syncopated drumming style that we find in the Funk and Latin percussions and finally, DJ Vinhill master on the turntables and known for his experimental style and digital artistry.
Metazon distinguishes themselves by also incorporating in some of their compositions, new techniques and instruments, like the charango, made with a dried armadillo shell mixed to bamboo flute melodies of the Inca Temples (the Quena). Metazon signifies all the universal energies to form one. One like World Fusion.
Metazon is a heavyweight in the Canadian music scene, they do shows for Michaelle Jean, the general governor of Canada, furthermore, they participate at the Francofolies of Montreal, they are invited several times at the Canadian Music Week and at the prestigious festival «Vue sur la relève». All members are constantly invited for interviews and to comment the music scene on radio and television. Active for almost eight years, they've dropped various collaborations, compilations and Ep?s. It is now the time to finally create the first official Metazon album. They are true artists at heart and soul that continuously search to surpass themselves, to push the boundaries of their art to a next level of musical astonishment. No wonder numerous critics gave praise to their previous works, ?Now or Never? in 2002 and ?Le Rassemblement? in 2008 confirms it.
