Born September 23, 1985 in Tokyo, Japan. Originally the lone 3rd generation recruit of prolific Japanese girl group Morning Musume at an early, Maki Goto was quickly recognised within the group for her vocal and dancing abilities as seen in the single "Love Machine" where she debuted. Having enjoyed success with the group, she then released a number of solo singles and eventually left the group to pursue a solo career.She eventually left Hello!Project and Up Front Agency (the umbrella group and agency to which she was originally under) due to issues regarding creative control and was eventually signed by avex CEO Max Matsuura to the sublabel Rhythm Zone where her music moved towards a more R&B orientated sound.
