Luke was raised in Leesburg, Georgia. At age fourteen, Luke's parents bought him his first guitar, and after learning to play it, he joined various local bands and began to play in local clubs. After graduating high school, Bryan planned to move to Nashville, Tennessee; however, this move was delayed, due to the death of his brother, Chris. Luke later attended Georgia Southern University, where he became a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He then continued to work on his singing and songwriting skills. He also self-released an album, which he sold at shows.
In 2001, Luke moved to Nashville, eventually landing a deal as a songwriter. An A&R representative at Capitol Records saw Bryan perform at a club, and signed the artist to a recording contract. Bryan's debut single, "All My Friends Say", was released in early 2007, just as country music artist Billy Currington was climbing the Hot Country Songs charts with "Good Directions", a single which Luke co-wrote. "Good Directions" spent three weeks at Number One on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs charts in May 2007.
In 2007, Luke released his first album, "I'll Stay Me", where he broke the top 10 with "Country Man" and "All My Friends Say", which reached the top 5 on Billboard's Hot Country. He also won Music Row's Breakthrough Songwriter Award.
In 2009, Luke released his second album, "Doin' My Thing", and had his first #1 single with "Rain Is A Good Thing". "Do I" also reached the top 5, and peaked at #2.
2010 has been a big year for Luke, winning two awards at the CMA's for Top New Artist and Top New Solo Vocalist. He also won USA's Breakout Video of the Year for "Do I", at the 2010 CMT Music Awards.
As of March 2010, he has released a new EP, "Spring Break 2... Hangover Edition", and is currently working on a new album.
Luke and his wife Caroline welcomed their son, Bo, into the world in 2008, and are expecting their second child in August 2010.
