Linda Kiraly was born 24 years ago in the Bronx to Hungarian parents who immigrated to US on their honeymoon. Linda experienced the upbringing of a regular New York kid up until the age of 14 when tragedy struck the Kiraly family. Linda?s mother was diagnosed with cancer and her dying wish was for her family to return home to Budapest. With great fortune Linda?s mother made a full recovery back in her homeland.
For a 14-year old New York teenager, suddenly thrown into Eastern Europe, life was difficult and lonely, a real culture shock. Linda?s prevailing dream was to get back to US as soon as possible. Though easier dreamt than done, Linda knew in her heart that music was her ticket back. With the gift of a remarkable 5-octave range ? Linda had the voice and ambition to do it.
Such was Linda?s drive and focus that she worked tirelessly to become one of the biggest stars in Hungary with a No. 1 album and 2 consecutive years as winner of the ?Singer of the Year? award under her belt. But for an Eastern European singer, however international her appeal, overseas recognition was always going to be hard.
It was to Budapest in Hungary that Andrew Lloyd Webber turned for his 1st non-English production of Phantom of the Opera and his preference was for a native tongue to sing the lead female role of Christine. The only Hungarian singer who had the true vocal ability for this part was Linda Kiraly.
Following this meeting with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Linda came to UK to work with Shalit Global Management to create an extraordinary collection of soulful pop songs which in turn won Linda a recording deal with Universal Republic Records. She is currently working on her US debut album that will be released this fall. Her first single "Can't Let Go" hits the airwaves in early August.
