With his acting career firmly established, Foxx began to work on a second studio album in 2004 - over a decade after the release of Peep This. After months in the studio, Jamie released his second effort Unpredictable in late 2005. A runaway success, Unpredictable rose to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200, eventually earning a coveted Double-Platinum certification by the RIAA. Aside from Foxx’s soulful crooning, Unpredictable was notable for its long list of guest performers, among them Kanye West, Ludacris, and Snoop Dogg. Standout tracks from the album include "Unpredictable", "Extravaganza", and "DJ Play a Love Song". After lending his presence the 2005 Kanye West hit "Gold Digger" and T.I.’s introspective 2006 single "Live in the Sky", Foxx is planning to continue his recording career with the release of a third album, tentatively titled Man’s Intuition, in late 2008.

Born Eric Bishop in the small town of Terrell, Texas, on December 13, 1967, Foxx was raised by his grandparents after his parents separated. He enjoyed a happy upbringing, going to church every day with his grandparents and excelling at everything from academics to music to football. During his teen years he had his first taste of the entertainment business as his church?s choir director and music director, and also started his own R&B band. Foxx studied music while a student at the U.S. International University in San Diego; it was during his college days that he got his start as a stand-up comedian. Attending a comedy club one night with some friends, he was encouraged to take the stage and perform some impersonations, which proved incredibly popular with the audience.
