Hatesphere is a metal band hailing from Arhaus, the second-largest city in Denmark. The band has become well known outside of European metal circles for their uncanny ability to blend the forbidding vocals of death metal with both heavy metal harmonies and thrash metal grooves, giving Hatesphere an instantly recognizable sound all their own. Though Hatesphere’s lineup has shifted over the years, the band’s current roster includes dual guitarists Peter “Pepe” Lyse Hansen and Jakob Nyholm, bassist Mixen Lindberg, drummer Dennis Buhl, and frontman Jonathan “Joller” Albrechtsen.

After forming in 2000, Hatesphere released a self-titled EP on independent Italian metal label Scarlet Records (Necrodeath, Dragonhammer) in mid-2001. Hatesphere made waves in European metal circles, prompting the band to release their second album Bloodred Hatred in 2002 followed by a mini-CD entitled Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Black in 2003. During this time Hatesphere toured extensively across Europe, winning the award for Best Live Band at the 2003 Danish Metal Awards.

The band’s cred in the international metal scene swelled with each release, among them the 2004 album Ballet of the Brute and their 2005 EP The Killing. In mid-2005 Hatebreed’s undeniable chemistry led to a deal with Steamhammer Records (a subdivision of German superlabel SPV GmbH), home to a number of notable metal acts including Motorhead, Judas Priest, and Iced Earth. Hatesphere released their first Steamhammer album The Sickness Within in late 2005; harder and faster than their earlier offerings, the raw power of The Sickness Within is showcased in tracks like "Reaper of Life" and "White Fever".
