Felix da Housecat is the stage name of disc jockey/producer Felix Stallings Jr., best known for his work in the Chicago house and electroclash music scenes. Born in Chicago, Illinois in 1972, Felix became immersed in the local house music scene as a teenager, learning the ropes under the guidance of legendary house artist DJ Pierre. Felix’s conservative parents actively discouraged his participation in the club scene, and after graduating high school set his musical dreams aside and enrolled at Alabama State College, a prestigious historically-black school.

After a few years at ASU, a disillusioned Felix rediscovered his love for electronica and decided to get back into the music scene. He moved back to Chicago in the mid-1990’s and established himself as one of the city’s premier DJ’s, releasing recordings under a number of aliases (before adopting the Felix da Housecat monkier, he released albums under other pseudonyms, including Sharkimaxx and Aphrohead) and becoming a regular at the hottest dance clubs in Chicago. He released a number of albums and EP’s on the now-defunct label Emperor Norton Records throughout the 1990’s, including 1995’s Metropolis Present day? Thee Album! and 1997’s Transmissions, Volume 2.

Though his music had been popular in the trance scene and abroad (especially in the United Kingdom), he failed to see mainstream until the release of his fourth major album Kittenz and Thee Glitz in 2001. Supported by successful single "Silver Screen Shower Scene" and bolstered by considerable critical success, Kittenz and Thee Glitz brought Felix to the forefront of the music scene, bringing about collaborations with Sean Combs, Madonna, and Thom Yorke of Radiohead.
