Faith Evans

Though a successful R&B artist in her own right, Faith Evans is perhaps best known for her tumultuous relationship with her first husband Christopher Wallace - better known as The Notorious B.I.G.. The Lakeland, Florida native honed her vocal skills in the church choir and at county fairs, eventually moving to Newark, New Jersey at age 18 where she met budding record producer Sean "Puffy" Combs, who signed her to his Bad Boy label in 1994 as the imprint’s first female artist. That same year she met The Notorious B.I.G. at a photoshoot; the pair married just three months later.

Faith turned down a scholarship to Fordham University in New York City to pursue a singing career, eventually releasing her debut album Faith in late 1995. The album proved to be a success, with singles "Ain't Nobody" and "Come Over" receiving a respectable amount of airplay. By the time Faith reached Platinum status in 1996 her marriage to Biggie had taken a turn for the worse, amid rumors of infidelity and the East Coast/West Coast rap rivalry between Biggie and Tupac Shakur. Tragically, The Notorious B.I.G. was shot dead after an awards show by an unknown assailant in early 1997 (just a few short weeks after Tupac's assassination), putting an end to their relationship once and for all.

Puffy assisted Faith in dealing with her husband's death by pushing her to record a second record, which saw a 1998 release in the form of Keep The Faith. Keep The Faith peaked at #6 on the Billboard 200, producing a handful of hits ("Love Like This", "All Night Long") and eventually selling over a million copies domestically. She married record producer Todd Russaw, her current husband, that same year.
