There's one fact about the Mid-West. It has plenty of soul and some of the best singers have come from this part of the country. DeVonn has definitely arrived on the scene with his crooning style voice, topped with some old school soul and some nusoul production and we've got magic again!
Not since most of the singers like Babyface, Isley Brothers, Gerald Levert has someone come along to motivate the listener in a postive way. Born a Toledo, Ohio native, DeVonn has seen and been around some of the most gifted singer/songwriter/producers in the business. DeVonn began his quest in the late 80's when he left for Los Angeles on a production deal, which didn't pan out. So, he then enrolled himself into recording engineering school (LA Recording Workshop) to sharpen his production skills.
By 1994, DeVonn landed a one album deal with Solar Records, which then was never released and shelved for 3 years. Soon after, DeVonn returned to Ohio in 1996 establising himself working with local artist like; Lyfe Jennings, Jay Rush, NDemand, Shayla Chantel, TABall, Ray Stone, CJ Mack, Trumptight and more. By 2004, DeVonn moved on to begin his solo career and in 2006 DeVonn performed at the World Famous Apollo Theatre and placed a modest third on amature night. Now he has released his debut CD "The Bridge" with single releases "Somebody Like You" and "Beautiful Blessed Woman."
Look for DeVonn on tour in late October 2009.
