After touring with Chris Brown and
Gwen Stefani throughout 2005, Ciara returned to the studio in 2006 to begin working on her second album
Ciara: The Evolution.
Ciara: The Evolution saw a late 2006 release date, skyrocketing to the top of the Billboard 200 upon its release. Widely considered by fans to be a deeper and more musically diverse album than
Goodies, her aptly titled sophomore album sampled from a wide variety of musical influences including crunk, dance, and electro. Standout tracks from
Ciara: The Evolution include
"That's Right",
"Like a Boy", and
"Get Up", the latter featuring Houston rap ambassador
Chamillionaire.
Ciara plans to release a third album, tentatively titled
Fantasy Ride, in mid-2009. Ciara has dabbled in a number of ventures outside of her musical career, including modeling (she is currently signed to
Wilhemina Models, a Manhattan based modeling agency) and acting. Ciara is slated to make her major motion-picture debut in 2009 with the leading role in
Mama, I Want to Sing!, a musical based on a Broadway play of the same name.
