Chantal Chamandy was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and raised in Montreal.She was part of the groups Voggue in the 1980's and Collage (7) in the 1990's before going solo.
Though she was born in Alexandria, Egypt, to an Egyptian/Greek father and Lebenese mother, Chantal Chamandy spent most of her life in Montreal, Canada, where her family moved when she was a young girl. In the late 1970s, she became one half of disco duo Voggue, who had a couple hits. She later released two mildly successful solo albums in the 1980s as Chantal Condor and just Chantal. The singer and pianist continued to write her own music and pursue her career, finally finding an ally in Ninemuse Records, which released her album, Love Needs You, which featured lyrics in English, French, Arabic, and Spanish, in 2005. After the success of the single "You Want Me," which was remixed by various DJs, Love Needs You came out in the U.S. in 2006
