Cassie was a model for the Wilhelimina modeling agency before she became a singer. She worked with Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, Complex magazine, Seventeen magazine, Delia’s fashion catalogue and other local department stores.
“Me & U” has two music videos. The first is the low-budget video, which was leaked to the Internet not long after its release, much to Cassie’s distress. The other high-budget video was made later and is being regularly played on the music channels. What’s interesting about Cassie’s success is that the single rose to the #6 slot on the Billboard Hot 100, without an official video being released. One week after the official release of the video, the video reached the number 4 slot and then the number 3 the week after. Because of the leakage of the video of “Me & U,” Cassie’s popularity grew internationally, especially in the clubs. She was later invited to Germany for a promotional tour of “Me & U.”
“Me & U,” like all other popular songs, has been remixed various times. The three official urban remixes are the “YoungBlaze Remixes,” the remix produced by Ryan Leslie, and of course the “Bad Boy Remix,” which features Diddy and new rap star Yung Joc. Of course, there are various other unofficial remixes available online as well.
2006 sure seems to belong to Cassie, with her album becoming as popular and as infectious as her songs. She has topped charts nationwide, on radio and on TV, and her new video is awaited impatiently by her fans.
