Brad Paisley

Like many now-famous country musicians, Brad Paisley discovered his love of music early in life - his grandfather bought him a guitar and taught him how to play at age eight. By the time he was thirteen, he became regionally known as a common opening act at the Capital Music Hall in Wheeling, West Virginia. After graduating from John Marshall High School in 1989, Paisley received a full scholarship to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee where he studied music and composition. The premier private liberal arts university in the area, notable Belmont alumni include country musicians Josh Turner and Chad Warrix of Halfway to Hazard fame.

After graduating from Belmont in 1995, Paisley worked as a behind-the-scenes songwriter for a number of EMI artists, including David Kersh and Tracy Byrd. His big break as a solo musician occurred in 1999, when he released his first album Who Needs Pictures on county label Arista Nashville. The album spawned the #1 hit single "He Didn‘t Have to Be", a heartfelt country ballad that propelled the young singer/songwriter to stardom.

Paisley’s second album, Part II, was released in 2001. Far from a sophomore slump, Part II went on to sell over a million copies (thanks to the airplay garnished by singles "Two People Fell in Love" and "I’m Gonna Miss Her") in the United States alone. Brad followed up this achievement in 2003 by releasing his most successful album to date, Mud on the Tires. Certified double-platinum by the RIAA and spawning four hit singles, Mud on the Tires showcases Paisley’s diversity as an artist, able to pen and sing both traditional western ballads and tongue-in-cheek country-pop. "Mud on the Tires", the album’s title track, reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Tracks index and remained there longer than any song he has released since.
