The vocal group Booty Luv was formed in London, England in 2006 by Cherise Roberts and Nadia Shepard. The two, formerly members of English hip-hop group Big Brovaz, decided to form Bootv Luv when Big Brovas broke up in in 2006, after gaining considerable popularity across Europe and releasing two albums albums; Nu-Flow and and Re-Entry. The group also contributed single "We Wanna Thank You" to the soundtrack of Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004).

While Big Brovas sported a mainstream hip-hop style, Booty Luv represents a departure from their prior sound. The all-girl group retains their R&B sensibilities while juxtaposing their vocals with a poppier, synthesizer-heavy sound. Booty Luv’s fusion of hip-hop and dance music has proved popular in the United Kingdom; the band released their first album Boogie 2nite on house label Hed Kandi in late 2007.

Boogie 2nite soon made Booty Luv into one of the fastest growing bands in the United Kingdom. The album has produced four hit singles, including "Boogie 2nite", "Don’t Mess With My Man", "Some Kinda Rush", and "Shine" (a Luther Vandross cover.) Three of these singles have topped the UK dance charts, and all four of them have charted in the top 20 on the UK mainstream charts as well.
