Bob Sinclar

Ubiquitous house disc jockey Christophe Le Friant was born in 1967 in the small fishing town of Douarnenez, France. Though his diverse musical career spans multiple styles and pseudonyms (he has dabbled in genres as diverse as hip hop, acid jazz, and world beat music under the aliases The Mighty Bop and Chris the French Kiss, among others), Christophe is most well known for his work in the genre of house music under the stage name Bob Sinclar.

Sinclar started DJing in 1989, gaining popularity in the underground house music scene throughout the 1990’s. One of the forerunners of the French house movement, much of Sinclar’s work incorporates elements of euro disco and futuristic, spacefairing themes, much like French house contemporaries Daft Punk and Stardust. The popularity of his first major album Champs Elysees proved to be mostly endemic to his home country, but the worldwide surge in popularity that house music began to receive beginning in the early 2000’s has since launched Sinclar’s career into the international spotlight.

Though Sinclar has released over twenty albums since Champs Elysees on his personal label Yellow Productions, his most popular have been his two most recent, Western Dream and Soundz of Freedom. Western Dream, released in 2006, incorporates a reggae-inspired raggamuffin sound into his electronica style. Western Dream is his most successful album to date, topping the dance charts in over six European countries and spawning a whopping six hit singles: "Love Generation", "World, Hold On", "Rock This Party", "Tennessee", "Everybody Movin'". and "Give a Lil’ Love".
