Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born in the fall of 1981 in Houston, Texas. At the age of nine Beyonce met LaTavia Robertson, Kelly Rowland, and Latoya Lucket, who later formed the best-selling female group Destiny's Child. Beyonce rose to stardom in 1998 as the lead singer of the Destiny's Child. Singles from the group include, "Soldier," "Lose My Breath," "No, No, No Part 2," to name a few.
In 2003, Beyonce released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The album was certified Platinum in only three weeks after its release. The album includes hit songs, "Crazy in Love" featuring Jay-Z, and "Baby Boy" featuring Sean Paul. Dangerously in Love went to the top of the album charts in many countries worldwide.
In lieu of her twenty-fifth birthday, Beyonce released her sophomore album, B-Day on September 4, 2006. B-Day sold over half-a-million copies in its first week, placing the album at number one on the Billboard charts. B-Day includes hit songs "Déjà vu" featuring Jay-Z, "Ring the Alarm," and "Irreplaceable."
