El Paso, Texas based band. Formed in 2001 after the disbanding of the group At The Drive-In, three ex-members Jim Ward, Paul Hinojos & Tony Hajjar quickly collaborated again to form Sparta. They recruited Matt Miller to complete the line-up and within a year had signed to Dreamworks Records and released their first EP, Austere, They followed up quickly with their first LP, Wiretap Scars.

1. Sparta is an alternative rock band which formed in El Paso, Texas in 2001. The band originally consisted of Jim Ward (vocals), Paul Hinojos (guitar) and Tony Hajjar (drums), all former members of At the Drive-In. After a brief stint with Erick Sanger, the three of them recruited Matt Miller, an El Paso native and then-bassist of Belknap to become the band's permanent bassist.

Sparta was an American band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 2001. Founding members Jim Ward (vocalist/guitarist) and Tony Hajjar (drummer) are former members of post-hardcore group At the Drive-In. Keeley Davis (guitarist) is the former frontman of Engine Down.
