Born: May 30, 1980, Bronx, New York Female rapper hailing from New York. Known best for her work with Fat Joe & The Terror Squad (which she is no longer a part of). Her artist name of "Remy Martin" had to be shortened due to "Remy Ma" or just "Remy" due to the threat of legal action from the brand name Cognac drink "REMY MARTIN", from France. Remy Ma's debut album "There's Something About Remy" was released in 2005. The album sold nearly 200,000 units, according to Soundscan. A slew of mixtapes have since followed and a sophomore release is slated for release, entitled "PunisHER".

Reminisce Mackie Martin-Smith (born May 30, 1981 in Castle Hill, Bronx), better known by her stage name Remy Ma, is an American rapper and former member of Fat Joe's rap crew, Terror Squad. She was featured on the group's hit song Lean Back from their second album, 2004's True Story. Her debut solo album, There's Something about Remy: Based on a True Story, was released in 2006. In May 2008, she was sentenced to eight years in prison after she was found guilty of assault, illegal weapon possession and attempted coercion related to a fatal shooting outside a nightclub in 2007. She married her fiance, rapper Papoose, outside the courtroom before she was sentenced, after he had tried to sneak a handcuff key into the prison where she was being held.

Remy has released five singles from her album There's Something About Remy: "Whuteva" , "Conceited", "Feels So Good", "Thug Love" and " "Lights Camera Action". "Conceited" was the most successful, however the album was largely a commercial failure selling only 225,000 units. The album got 3.5 mics from The Source magazine.

Reminisce Smith (born May 30, 1981), better known by her stage name Remy Ma, formerly Rémy Martin, is a Grammy-nominated American rapper and former member of Big Pun's rap crew, Terror Squad. Ma was featured on the group's hit song "Lean Back" from their second album True Story and M.O.P.'s "Ante Up (Remix)." Her debut solo album, There's Something about Remy: Based on a True Story, was released on February 7, 2006. She is one of only four female rappers to ever have a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with Terror Squad's number one single "Lean Back." She has also won two Vibe awards, two Source awards, an ASCAP pop award and a BET award for "Best Female Hip Hop", as well as two other nominations. Remy cites Big Punisher and Roxanne Shante as her biggest influences. Smith is currently serving eight years in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women for shooting Makeeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen over a missing sum of $3,000.
