A member of tha Dogg Pound, rapper Kurupt (a.k.a. Tha Kingpin, Kalhoon and Young Gotti) was born Ricardo Brown in Philadelphia on November 23, 1972; as a teen he was sent to live with his father in Hawthorne, CA, later befriending Snoop Doggy Dogg and signing to Death Row Records. Appearances on Dr. Dre's 1992 classic "The Chronic" and Snoop's 1993 debut "Doggy Style" followed before {Kurupt} teamed with Daz Dillinger to form tha Dogg Pound, debuting in 1995 with Dogg Food; upon co-founding the ANTRA label, he made his solo debut in 1998 with "Kuruption". Just prior to the release of his 1999 sophomore effort "Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha", Kurupt made headlines when his bodyguard was shot to death in front of the Los Angeles studio where the rapper was recording.
Ricardo Brown (born November 23, 1972), professionally known as Kurupt the Kingpin or Young Gotti is an American gangsta rapper. He has also worked as an actor, in films such as Hollywood Homicide and Johnson Family Vacation. Although raised in California, he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His rapping debut was on Dr. Dre's The Chronic in 1992, as a part of the duo Tha Dogg Pound with Daz. The two were among the first acts signed to Death Row Records. He released an album with Daz called Dogg Food in 1995 on Death Row Records.
